Community-Centered Artist Fellowships: Learnings from Experience

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

In 2020, Arts for Learning Indiana (AFL) created the Artists Building Community (ABCs) Fellowship to reach more youth and communities with arts education programming. The fellowship empowered four teaching artists to serve as arts ambassadors in their communities where they are working to build intentionality for sustainable partnerships, centered on community assets and ensuring that every child receives their vitally important arts education. Along the way, they are growing as grassroots organizers and building our collective intelligence.

“By building relationships, trust, social awareness and tolerance within the Indianapolis communities that I have served, I have been able to foster hope and creativity among urban youth in a caring, culturally responsive manner.” -Mark Peay.

Come to this session to hear from the fellows ands staff as they share what they learned and answer: How can you more intentionally build sustainable relationships with those in your city? How can we more equitably give power to the community members & constituents that we are serving?

This session will be auto-captioned and interactive via Zoom.
